How To Choose Colors and Fonts That Fit Your Brand

When choosing colors it is essential to keep in mind that these colors must compliment and harmonize. You are also delivering a message to your marketplace; keep in mind that your colors and fonts enhance your core values and underlying personality.

To get ideas on which colors to use, try finding a photograph that inspires you or encompasses the overall feel of your brand. Start by using some of the core colors in the photograph and finding the exact pantone number of each color. This will make sure that each color stays consistent throughout your branding process if you chose to use these colors.

Colors can evoke powerful reactions; physiological and emotional (see our color psychology blog by Zoë Johnson). You must first ask yourself; which colors evoke the certain mood that you want your desired demographic to feel?

If you want customers to be passionate and excited about your product or service, it is highly suggested to use a bold palette with strong warm colors; such as red or orange. If your intent is to calm and nurture, choosing a more soothing palette of pastels, earth tones, and neutrals is a better option. To be most effective, colors need to operate as a palette, and not as single colors.

"A brand is the set of expectations, memories, stories and relationships that, taken together, account for a consumer’s decision to choose one product or service over another."
