How To Design A Business Card That Gets Noticed

First impressions mean everything, especially when it involves your business. Business cards can either gather potential clients, or end up as a book mark or at the bottom of someone’s purse. How can you make your business card successful? Considering the card measures only 2 inches by 3.5 inches, making a lasting impression can be difficult.

When considering a design, present a professional image people will remember. The color, wording and texture of a business card have a lot to do with the ability to convey your company image. When designing your card, it is highly recommended to keep the logo as the basis of the design. Keep the information simple with clean crisp type, do not try and cram too much information on the card; leave that for your website.

The typeface chosen must be clean and easily readable when including your contact information. Color is also an important element to a successful business card. Do not cram too many colors, keep it simple and stick to 1-2 colors that best reflect your company’s image.

Another important tip is the presentation or the card and what material the card is made of. Some companies use a thicker dark paper and get the sides of the card colored with bright loud colors to grab client’s attention. Nontraditional shapes tend to get more attention as well as textured paper. Another process is Thermography, this creates raised, shiny print, and adds a different flare to the card. Embossing and foil stamping can also be used to give your business card strong visual appeal.
